Jeff Merak and Dave Trafford discuss Mats Sundin

MATS SUNDIN IN A HOLDING PATTERN AS HABS GM BOB GAINEY PURSUES LEAF CAPTAIN
Mats Sundin has told reporters in Sweden that he's not about to make a decision on which time he might want to play for...until he makes a decision on whether or not he's going to continue his NHL career.
Yesterday, Canadiens GM Bob Gainey reportedly had a 30-minute conversation with Sundin -- his second since getting the green light from Leafs GM Cliff Fletcher to talk contract with the Leafs captain.
The Canadiens aren't the only term interested in the services of Sundin, who stands to become an unrestricted free agent July 1st. The New York Rangers are said to be making a full-court press on Sundin, although the Canadiens are the ones with exclusive rights to talk to him...for now, at least. And Sundin is reportedly quite warm to the idea of joining the Broadway Blueshirts.
