Carol Mott wanted you to know...
The Tournament of Champions is entering it's 11th year milestone, and as principals, we are literally overjoyed with the progress that has been made over the last nine years.
Through the Children's Wish Foundation of Canada, we have fulfilled the wishes of 13 kids who wished for ponies or horses. Over the past 10 years, the Tournament has raised over $500,000 to grant wishes for these very deserving children. CARD (Community Association for Riding for the Disabled) was added to our charitable giving program, raising over $200,000 in our first 4 years, for this very worthwhile cause.
Tournament of Champions features the $175,000 John Deere Canada Cup of Show Jumping, featuring $100,000 Canada Cup Final & World Cup Qualifier (member event of the Jump Canada Series). This competition follows the World Cup format whereby the riders and horses compete and qualify for the final over a three-phase competition. The lowest scores over the first two phases advanced to the final on Sunday, which will determine the Canada Cup Champion. Mac Cone & Cocu became the first Canada Cup Champions over three days of superb showjumping, with Megan Lamaze following the tradition in 2002, Ainsley Vince in 2003, Eric Lamaze in 2004, followed by Ian Millar, riding InStyle, in 2005, 2006 & 2007.
The Re/Max Family Village includes competitions by Medieval Times, Ken Jen Petting Zoo, the DogSmart performing teams, Bouncey Castles, face painting, one of a kind Boulevard of Champions Trade and Craft Fair. All of the family activities are FREE on Saturday & Sunday with admission. The 2008 Tournament of Champions promises to be bigger and better than ever, as we welcome home our Olympic riders from the 2008 Games.

Hi Carol,
For the past eighteen years, I have struggled to have my innocence acknowledged and on Tuesday, April 22ndthose efforts came to fruition; it was an overwhelming moment for me and one that I am still coming to terms with. But to be asked about compensation only minutes after being acquitted of murdering the woman I loved was, in my opinion, profoundly disrespectful to Liz's memory and to her family and for these and other reasons I did not feel it appropriate to address the issue. Regardless of one's view of the case or the issue of compensation, the fact remains that a beautiful, vibrant young woman that I loved was murdered, her family remains in grief, and after eighteen years I finally have the opportunity to grieve her in a way that was denied me eighteen years ago.
It is only natural that people would wonder about compensation given what I have endured and I do not begrudge them this as it is a legitimate thought. But for now, my focus is on getting answers to two fundamental questions: why was I imprisoned for a crime I did not commit; and who is responsible for Liz's murder. A judicial inquiry may bring us closer to answering those questions and this is what I have chosen to address until such time as we receive an answer one way or the other.
I would like to stress, however, that no one is more aware of how much I have been wronged by the system than I am. And though I would not begrudge anyone in my position the desire to be compensated, I simply feel it is an issue that can wait for another day. Perhaps some day in the future, when and if those that are responsible for the injustice I have suffered are made accountable for what has happened; or, when I have had more time to reflect on what has transpired over the last eighteen years, I will address the issue of compensation. For now, I've merely chosen to focus on other things and I hope people will respect this.
Sincerely,
