The talks are described by the Durham Police Associaiton as disappointing although resumed negotiations are planned for October 17th.

One of the main issues on the table is manpower. The Association say they are very concerned that staffing levels haven't kept up with the growth of Durham Region over the past decade.

As of 7 a.m. Monday, all eleven hundred members of the service - both uniform and civilian will wear ball caps with 10-33 on the front, which is police code for officer needs assistance.

They'll also be handing out education cards to explain they want to be treated fairly and with respect.

Durham police officers have been working without a contract since January.
