With the state of stock markets around the world dominating the news, politicians at Queen's Park will hold a special debate to discuss Ontario's economy.   But some are calling the debate prompted by the premier, a cynical political ploy.

The premier wants to show that the legislature is talking about what ordinary people are the economy.

"We need to be seen to be concerned about with what preoccupies families."

But conservative leader John Tory calls this a disgraceful political game.   The government resolution that MPPs will debate takes about making financial adjustments where necessary without going into details praises the liberals policies things Tory says the premier knows the opposition party's can't support.

"If he thinks we're going to vote to give him a blank cheque make financial adjustments, to congratulate him and participate in his self serving back-patting on everything he's done that that got us into this mess?  Forget it."


The debate is expected to last several days.
