Amber Gero's report on Viva drivers voting on rejected deal

Just two weeks after going on strike, York Region's Viva bus drivers are being told they will have to vote on the same offer they rejected last month.

A mediator made the recommendation after Veolia Transport said it would reduce the offer if workers failed to ratify the deal by the end of the day on Friday.

Earlier this week, some of the striking drivers had launched a petition this week urging their co-workers to reconsider the offer.

Drivers went on strike on September 25th after rejecting the deal that their union had recommended that they voted in favour of.

Viva serves 35,000 riders on a daily basis. Most of those riders have been forced to use York Region Transit buses since the strike began.
