Ryan Bird's report on winter driving conditions

Ryan Bird's report on winter driving conditions
Roads and highways became extremely slippery late Wednesday with the snow and the temperature hovering near zero. Hundreds of collisions occurred in south central Ontario. In many cases, cars were sliding off driving lanes and into guardrails.

Main roads and highways were plowed or salted overnight, but extra care and caution are still recommended.

Parts of southwestern Ontario may be in much worse shape than Toronto.

30 to 50 centimetres of snow is possible in areas around Grand Bend on the shore of Lake Huron, eastward to the Strathroy area.  Environment Canada calls that snowfall amount "colossal."

Snowsquall warnings were issued for areas from London, west to Sarnia, north to Owen Sound and east to Barrie.
