A group of Torontonians has launched a new HIV/AIDS awareness campaign called One Million Red Ribbons. Hundreds of volunteers are handing out 100,000 of the ribbons across the GTA today to mark World AIDS Day. Some are HIV positive while others just hope to spread awareness.

Earlier in the day, a ribbon made from a piece of a red bedsheet of an HIV positive youth was pinned onto Mayor David Miller's suit. Miller says HIV/AIDS can't be taken for granted and both the city and the community need to double their efforts in the fight against the disease.

CFRB's Katie Franzios has more.

The CN Tower will also be lit up in red tonight to mark World AIDS Day.
