The Beau-marks were launched in 1958; comprised of vocalist/lead guitarist Ray Hutchinson, rhythm guitarist Mike Robitaille, drummer Gilles Tailleur and pianist Joey Frechette, the band's third single, "Clap Your Hands," hit number one in Canada and Australia, and charted in the U.S. Invited to appear on American Bandstand, the quartet was also asked to play a concert for charity at Carnegie Hall. The band broke up in 1963 after three albums: High Flying Beau-Marks (1960), The Beau-Marks in Person Recorded on Location at Le Coq D'or (1961) and a self-titled 1962 album. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
